| X2076 BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} DAL/M16.7.32. C. to SG. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} BENSPORT(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley) FRONT AXLE & BRAKES. We send herewith N. schs. 3503 and 3508, drawings of the Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley) front axle and brakes. It will be seen that these differ from Peregrine(Experimental Bentley car never produced / Aero Engine) axle in that the forging is lowered .5" and we have taken the opportunity to increase the length of the front pivot bearing. We are going into the question of providing some means other than riveting for attaching the brake fabric to the shoes, but we have not yet arrived at a decision, and in the meanwhile have provided for carrying on as now. It is intended that this axle shall be used on both Peregrine(Experimental Bentley car never produced / Aero Engine) and Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley).
