YOUR REF..................... OUR REF. NR/EI.

29th April, 1938.

W.A. Rowbotham, Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Rowbotham,

I should like to thank you for your kind hospitality on the occasion of my visit to Derby yesterday which was most enjoyable.

I intended to bring to your notice the enclosed Patent Specification No: 461,283 relating to Bumper Bars, but did not find an opportunity of seeing you again after lunch.

We got out this specification in 1935 and intended developing it but owing to pressure of work in other directions nothing further was done. Mr.Honeyman, however, has mentioned that you are interested in Bumpers at the moment and it occurred to me that you might like to look into this arrangement.

I would very much appreciate your personal opinion and welcome any criticism that may occur to you. No samples have yet been made up but should you consider the design favourably, we would be prepared to develop it so that tests can be carried out.

I fully appreciate, ofcourse, that the manufacturing costs would be greater than the average bar commonly in use and it would therefore only appeal to a car manufacturer requiring a superior accessory of this kind.

Cont'd ..........
