| X4523 To Da {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} from Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Wst. to Hy. {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} R. {Sir Henry Royce} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Wst. 2/KT. 7.11.31. ELECTRIC PETROL GAUGE. X4523 With reference to your DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} /EV {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} 1/M3.11.31. we are arranging for another Smith electric petrol gauge to be obtained and forwarded to R. {Sir Henry Royce} for his examination. The principle of the instrument is that a float in the petrol tank varies in its vertical motion the voltage across the actuating coils of the facia board instrument, which is apparently a simple moving iron voltmeter without control spring. The voltage variation is effected by the float working a potentiometer arm. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Wst. | ||
