Ck. {Mr Clark} X3653 RE BLANKING PLATES FOR RADIATORS. Bnl/W1C1219.

With reference to PN {Mr Northey} /15/DB {Donald Bastow - Suspensions} 8.12.19, two plates are supplied so that four different degrees of cooling effect can be obtained. For similar temperature conditions, different owners will require different combinations of blanking plates owing to the varying manner in which cars are driven.

If 1-LW boiled a gallon away on the way to London, it means that the wrong combination was chosen for this manner of driving. You agree, do you not, that it is more likely that our cars will be run at proper temperatures if we supply four ranges of blanking plates than if we supply one? Also the blanking of the radiator is in order to effect a general improvement in therunning of the engine and is not only to assist the piston knock difficulty.

If a man finds that his water boils, he should fit the next lower combination of plates as regards blanking. Surely all this is obvious. We have never recommended the fitting of Blanking Plates in such a way that the water is caused to boil.
