| -2- Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} further reported to the Committee that the attitude of Lucas is such that he was not prepared to accept the risk of their breaking entirely with Rolls-Royce, and suggested that if the reduced price and charge of £17 and £5 respectively had to be communicated to Lucas as our ultimatum that it should be done here in the presence of all those members of the Committee who were responsible for fixing those figures. If this matter should unfortunately lead to a break with Lucas it is improbable that said firm would agree to change the out-outs in all the switchboxes supplied to us and we should have to arrange for the supply of electrical equipment from elsewhere immediately and we have not an alternative scheme for replacing the out-outs in all the switchboxes. A break with Lucas would undoubtedly necessitate a very heavy expenditure on our part beyond the amount which we contemplate having to expend if Lucas carry out the proposals which have already been submitted. Mr. Wormald and Mr. Hives will be seeing Mr. Royce on Friday morning and will raise this question with him. Therefore if CJ. thinks it necessary to comment upon the foregoing remarks perhaps he will address a note to Mr. Wormald at Mr. Royce's address. Continued. | ||
