9th June, 1937.

I have received from Mr. Bogg this morning your arrangement of the Auto-locking damper. At first sight there are two snags -

(a) there is a large air lock immediately above the valve, which can be overcome by drilling a hole through the top of the locking member.

(b) I think the locking member should be in a bush.

We found that these locking members very soon seized in aluminium bores.

We do not require the leak adjustment to 472-Z, as we shall give a leak by raising the valve off its seat with a washer.

Yours faithfully,

For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
