Captain Wilks,
The Rover Co.Ltd.,
COVENTRY.

Dear Captain Wilks,

I wonder whether you would elucidate various points in connection with Girling brakes.

We have a chassis fitted with Girling brakes except for the wedge-shaped cam which we have avoided by a system of bell crank levers ending in our usual toggle arrangement. The efficiency of the layout is only about 50%.

What we should like to know is -

(1) Is there any trouble with the wedge.
(2) What is the best angle.
(3) What is the minimum pull off spring, measured at the pull on the wedge, that is satisfactory.
(4) Does not the altered bedding on adjusting the brakes give less efficient braking.

Hoping you do not mind providing this information.

Yours sincerely,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
