| 1332 (Experimental Dept.) Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Gry {Shadwell Grylls} 3/R. 7th December, 1936. Messrs. Dunlop Rubber Co.,Ltd., Fort Dunlop, Erdington, BIRMINGHAM. For the attention of Mr. H.C. Price. Dear Sirs, We have asked Mr. Sleator of our Paris Depot to try his Bentley on 6 x 17 Dunlop '90' tyres on the 4 x 17 rims on which he is now running India(Production 20 HP. with 4-speed box and Front Wheel Brakes) tyres. The Paris Dunlop people say 6 x 17 tyres will be unsafe, and that 7 x 17 should be fitted. They will only supply Mr. Sleator with 6" tyres at his responsibility. What are your views on this matter ? of what are the Paris people afraid ? We should like to know whether in the event of our wishing to standardise 6"tyres on a 4" rim you would raise any objections. Yours faithfully, For ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
