INDUCTION PIPES+

I should be pleased if you could give us some information as regards the results you are obtaining with the induction pipes which have the 1" pipe exhaust heated through the centre. We have made a pipe to your designs.
We first of all ran with the 1" exhaust heated pipe outside the induction pipe to see how hot it got. We found it got to about 110°C when running full power. We did not consider this was very hot. We have found that by arranging the connections in the exhaust boxes differently, we could increase the temperature to 200°C. As the scheme is arranged at present, the exhaust is taken from the centre of the exhaust box at the end. This means that the pulsations of all three cylinders in each box are working at each end of the pipe, which means that there is very little interchange of exhaust. We have proved that if we raise the exhaust connections so that instead of being at the end of the box they come into the passage from 1 and 6 cylinders and enter the connection into the passage, that we get a much greater interchange of exhaust; it warms up more rapidly and maintains more maximum heat.
We should like to know from you as soon as possible what the results are you have obtained so far. We should also be very interested to hear whether you have been able to confirm that it was pre-ignitions which you had with the extra large hot spot. In none of our tests have we been able to confirm this.
