c. Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Der. RHG.

J.3. Gearbox for Vulture(Experimental 6 CYL OHV LONG STROKE / Aero Engine).

With reference to your layout of 1st speed gear teeth, will you kindly instruct the teeth as shown by the middle view, i.e. pinion thickened .020 and wheel thinned .020. The reduction of stress is almost as much as with corrected teeth and there is, of course, no alteration to the M. {Mr Moon / Mr Moore} sleeve but the reverse pinion must be similarly modified.

It is important that this modification and the high ratios gears N. Sch.3906 should be made to any J.3. box used on the Vulture(Experimental 6 CYL OHV LONG STROKE / Aero Engine).

Will you kindly send us a print of your layout of tooth forms, the original of which we return herewith.

HDY. {William Hardy}
