COPY. SECRET. To SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} EVL/29.12.38 Re: BODY FOR VULTURE The body for Vulture will be back at Park Wards from the Panel Beaters on Saturday next. The earliest that one can hope to have it ready for delivery will be Monday Jan. 8th. It is hoped to have the front wings and steps ready for delivery by the middle of next week. At the moment we are awaiting a definite promise for the delivery dates for the body and for the wings from Messrs. Park Ward. The Full Size Drawing was not started at the coachbuilders until Nov. 28th which is four weeks from today discounting the holiday. The normal period required by Messrs. Park Ward to build a body is 8 to 9 weeks and with overtime 6 to 7 weeks. In this case there has been considerable delay due to the chassis not being delivered to the coachbuilder, making it necessary for a dummy chassis to be built in wood. Also the last of the chassis designs required by the coachbuilder to complete the dummy chassis was only available on Dec. 13th. We are doing all that can be done to get the body as quickly as is possible, including the working of overtime at nights and during the weekend. We were unable to get the work continued through the Christmas Holiday. (Sgd.) EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
