| X200. To Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} :Ph.E. DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} re Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley) Radiator. Sg {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 18/E27.3.33 Referring to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/MJ.20.3.33 I see no objection to shutters being dispensed with on the Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley) for the reasons given in your memo. I do, however, feel that it is important that the next car that goes abroad should have the arrangement which you propose instead. I am very much concerned to read about the further piston troubles on Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley) and presume you will keep us in close touch with further developments. In your Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2/MJ25.3.33 which I have seen to-day it says that it had already been decided that we should use the 20/25 diecast pistons. Frankly I do not quite understand the position as it indicates that we have been testing on the Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley) in France something different from what we intended for production whereas surely the whole object of the test is to pass what is on it for production.
