For the attention of Mr. W.H.Bailey -
Technical-Production Engineer.

Dear Sirs,

Reverting to Mr. Herbert Frood's interview with your Mr. Bailey some few days back, when the subject of Spring Interleaving was mentioned, it may interest you to know that we have dismantled the springs of Mr. Frood's Rolls-Royce Car, and removed the special interleaving material, which has been daily used from January 21st. last to the 20th.ult. and are forwarding a set of fabric inter-leaves from a front spring for your inspection. You will note evidence of rust being present - this is to be expected as no steps were taken to exclude water, or even to lubricate the inserts.

The effect of the interleaving on the springs of the car was distinctly effective, the general running - particularly over some very bad stretches of road - being noticeably improved. The effect would probably have been better still had the fabric been coated with stiff graphite fabric, as you will see, has successfully resisted the wear and we think you will agree, has stood up to the work in a very satisfactory manner.

We shall be much obliged if you will be good enough to return the pieces to us after you have examined them. The material being thin, it can be easily snapped across, and we should like - if possible - to prevent anything of this kind happening, as it is our desire to keep the set intact. We have marked the small packing case, covering the inserts for 'the attention of Mr. Bailey'. We should be very glad to receive any comments or suggestions from your goodselves in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

FERODO LIMITED., J.Field. Chief Manager.
