Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 2/T9.1.24. X.3485 - GOSHAWK(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) BATTERY IGNITION. X.3949. Herewith please receive copy of matter relating to the starting of the Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) engine, which should in nearly all cases be possible to effect by retarding the ignition lever, particularly with a well run in engine. If it is not possible to do this, it indicates that some portion of the ignition equipment is not set correctly, i.e. either to the production inspection, adjustment and test of the Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) ignition distributor and contact breaker, dated 14.12.23, or to the instructions for the timing of the ignition distributor and contact breaker in position on the chassis, of the same date, copies of which you have had.
