| Note:- EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} /T10.11.22. 1804 For uniformity of production, i.e. in order not to have an additional standard, it is suggested temporarily to standard for the Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) the 40/50 coil exactly as it is (without alteration). The ballast resistance used with the coil will be standard Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) ballast 25", this reduced length of ballast avoiding any possibility of misfiring at high speeds such as might occur in using exactly the 40/50 ignition on Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)). It is only intended that this standardisation be effective until a further standard of the most approved coil construction for the Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) (in bakelite case) is arrived at. Our experiments have now nearly arrived at the stage when we feel we can produce a coil which will be O.K. under all road conditions, but of course it is necessary to confirm this by a large number of car miles before standardisation.
