Special Washers were ordered up on 10/9/13 to be tested. It was stated that when a car has been out on the road for some time the washer under the suction chamber of the air valve becomes swelled owing to the absorbtion of moisture and is able to exe(Aero Engine)rt sufficient pressure to make the use of a chisel and hammer necessary to unscrew the suction chamber.

Washers in lead, special fibre, and copper asbestos were handed to Mr Hives on 1/10/13. These were reported on by Mr Hives on March 13th, after which Mr Royce suggested that an ebonite washer might be tried. This was handed to Mr Hives on 18/5/14 and we attach herewith his report.

A similar washer is also fitted to 58NA. {Mr Nadin}
