| To Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Wym. {G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Wym. {G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} 8/SW.16.3.41. 200 re:- B.20.AW. As far as can be ascertained from the chassis records, no work was done to the change speed gate by the Sales Dept. On one of my visits to Hythe Road, JLE {J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager} did remark that they had fitted the change speed lever to this chassis in London, but we have no record of this. It looks as if the mechanism was fitted up wrongly at Derby when the car was first built. Whilst we worked on the car at Belper, the change speed mechanism was removed to enable us to dismantle the gearbox, but was put back in the same place. The change speed mechanism cannot be erected in any but its original position, unless the holes in the frame are elongated. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Wym {G.
