'BENSPORT(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley)' ENGINE.

We consider in deciding on the 'Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley)' engine we should look forward to the fact that engine speeds are likely to increase. We know that cars such as 'Riley' (with push rods), 'Morris', 'Alfa', are running with supercharged engines well over 6,000 R.P.M.

From a preliminary test on Peregrine(Experimental Bentley car never produced / Aero Engine) engine one could foretell that the limiting speed for this engine will be the crankshaft. However much we dislike the idea it is certain that the 'Bensport(Codename for 3 1/2-litre Bentley)' car will be used for racing and therefore we consider we ought to be satisfied with the crankshaft before we are committed to it.
