| To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to - BJ. HS. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Y8370 DA {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} 4/M.19.5.26. re. PHANTOM SERVO. X.8370. Herewith we send N.Scheme 2192. shewing R's suggestions for flexibility in the servo operation. The plate spring gives a certain amount of load and then shuts up choc-a-bloc. We should like to suggest that on the original scheme sent you - N.Scheme 2185 - this same effect can be produced by putting a washer inside the spring to throw the latter out of action after a certain deflection. We suggest that this should be done because it will enable a conclusion as to the usefulness of the steel spring compared with the rubber ring to be arrived at more quickly. On this drawing we also shew a stiffened spring between the servo plates. DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
