Royce - Buyer} c. to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to HY. {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} ROY {Mr H. Royce - Buyer} 1/MGL6.1.35 Dunlop Tyres C9/C14.1.35 - It is very evident the Dunlop Company's manufacturing arrangements for the new Tyre, Type 90, have not proceeded as rapidly as anticipated, and I should say their Publicity people were premature in issuing the advertisements they have done lauding the merits of this new type. Meantime, as far as delivery is concerned, the latest information we have from Fort Dunlop is that at our present weekly rate of delivery they anticipate completing the change-over from M.A.2 by approximately the end of February; but should we now feel it desirable, they would endeavour to make a gradual increase in the number of "90" pattern tyres supplied, reaching 100% of our normal deliveries within 4 weeks. They are particularly anxious we should not at a later date ask them to accept return of M.A.2 stocks, as they anticipate difficulty in disposing of them quickly in other directions. You will have seen fro Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 11/KW15.1.35 the Experimental Shop Report is distinctly guarded. Do you think we should be wise in asking the Dunlop Company now to speed up their manufacturing arrangements so that "90" type Tyres in sufficient quantities to meet our requirements may be available in 4 weeks time? The Shipping Department here tell me Mr. Barnes, at Sales, is closely in touch with them on the matter. ROY. {Mr H. Royce - Buyer} (Continued) | ||
