Query regarding a deviation from the standard taper on the Phantom III Rear Axle.

Identifier  ExFiles\Box 92\5\  scan0034
Date  7th October 1935

Handwritten: Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} , X302, GRY {Shadwell Grylls}

To E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}
Copy to Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}
Ex.De. (struck out)

Phantom III Rear Axle.

Referring to E.2/HP.2.10.35, I note it says in the second paragraph '....it is strange that the taper is one in four instead of our standard, one in six.'

I should be glad of information as to how this came about, i.e. why our standard was departed from in this instance.
