Herewith is N.Sch.4654 shewing the final scheme for strengthening the drive between the hypoid pinion and the universal joint flange. The large diameter of the taper is restored to its former size, and the taper made 1 in 8. This enables a larger screw to be used and the total improvement in driving force from the taper alone is 142% compared with the one that failed. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
