re. New Phantom(Codename for PHANTOM I) Engine - Loss of Oil through
Oil Pipe Clip becoming loose.

The clip at the front end of the bottom half
crankchamber has on two occasions on test come adrift, in
one instances on the dynamometer, and the other while
the engine gears were being quietened on test.

I was given to understand in both these cases
that the clips had not been disturbed or touched in any way
since the car was put on test.

This point is rather serious in so far as the
fault was shown up on the dynamometer by a bad leakage of
oil.

The clip is not very accessible and is covered
up by the front engine guard. I should be glad if this
point could receive your consideration in regard to the
following:-

(1) A more definite fixing so that the clip does not
so easily become loose.

(2) If it does come loose or the screws come adrift
that there shall be no oil leak.

If it is considered that any retrospective
action should be taken in regard to this matter, as far as
conveying the information to Depots is concerned, as to the
possibility of this taking place, and what can be done to
prevent it occurring again, please let me know.
