X.3288 CAMSHAFT & ROCKER MECHANISM.
RE ROCKER LEVER ROLLER.

Will you kindly instruct the experimental dept. to produce six sets of rollers for the above mechanism in ball bearing steel, that is, K.E.S.J.B.S. or a similar steel made by Firth's instead of the present material, namely, C.H.N.S.

The object of the experiment is to try and overcome the scoring owing to which a number of rollers are scrapped on every engine during test. The above steel should apparently give us a universally harder surface and better results.

I consider the parts should be made - one set used on experimental engine regularly - five sets used on production engine, which should be reported upon as to their condition after the endurance test.
