| X4704 RHC. {R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} From Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} 1/MA.14.5.34. VULTURE(Experimental 6 CYL OHV LONG STROKE / Aero Engine) GEARBOX. In view of the failure of the 3rd speed gears in this box we should like to try 10 DP 25º obliquity gears to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1393 for all the helical gears. At the same time we think the sideshaft would be better supported in the middle by a roller bearing. We suggest trying a bearing to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 1397. This bearing will require .010 to .012 end float to allow for expansion of the box. The bearing above this on the 3 rd motion shaft would benefit by similar treatment. Will you please fit these modifications to this gear box and at the same time the 2nd speed 8º serve thread cones. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Gry. {Shadwell Grylls} | ||
