| X156 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} :1/MA. August 22nd., 1933. T.C. Skinner Esq., S.U. Carburetter Co., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, Birmingham, 8. Dear Skinner, I have just received the carburetters with the improved finish. I am very pleased with the fit of the mixture control pins on the job. Now with regard to petrol pumps, our people in France have been making enquiries about the state of petrol pumps on the Continent, and have obtained the following information:- (a) Mechanical pumps suffer fairly consistently from Vapour Lock. (b) The electrical petrol pump they are using on the Continent is the Autflux. I have no details of this pump but I am asking them to send one over for our inspection. (c) The Autflux petrol pump manufacturers insist on their pump being fitted as far away from the engine and as near the petrol tank as possible. From the point of view of vapour lock we should consider this to be the right policy. | ||
