| COPY Park, Ward & Co. Ltd., 473, High Road, Willesden, N.W.10. 25th April 1934. Messrs. Bentley Motors (1931) Ltd. 16, Conduit Street, W.1. Dear Sirs, Standardised Coachwork Since we wrote you on the 5th inst. on the above subject, the writer had an opportunity, when he was at your Works yesterday, of seeing the three Experimental bodies which we originally constructed for you. These bodies appear to have stood up to their work very well and we found on inspection that when they were mounted at Derby two additional body brackets had been fixed 8" behind the dash and level with top of frame. We ourselves attach the greatest importance to the use of these additional brackets and we do not know why provision was not made for them by you on all subsequent chassis. If you can see your way to effect this modification on all future chassis, it will help us greatly and will, we think, overcome the little troubles we have been experiencing and which have been confined entirely to the front part of the body. If you have no technical objection to this modification, we should much prefer to adopt that method and dispense with the aluminium front pillars. We intend to use steel lined runners in future and there are certain other minor constructional changes which we think will be advantageous after the experience gained. As mentioned in our previous letter, these will incur additional labour costs, but with the elimination of the metal front pillars, the weight should not be greatly affected. As it is imperative that an immediate start be made with the new batch of bodies, we would very much appreciate your prompt decision as to our suggestions so that we may go straight ahead with the work. Yours faithfully for PARK, WARD & CO. LTD. (Sd) C.W.Ward. Director | ||
