| To BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X7430 DAL/M26.5.27. PHANTOM STEERING - SELF CENTREING SPRING. X. 7430 X. 8430 Herewith we send N.sch.2418 shewing an arrgt. for experimental purposes of a spring e in the steering column to assist the self centering. We have made use of the larger tube recently instructed. It is our intention to provide a friction device for the Phantom and we suggest that Derby should do this by scaling up the arrangement recently sent you for India(Production 20 HP. with 4-speed box and Front Wheel Brakes). Of the alternative methods of anchoring the spring we wish to use the one having the spring hooked over at each end. DA. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
