| BJ6/E7/9/26. Memorandum of Conference, held 7th September 1926, 11 a.m. PRESENT: Mr. Rapson BJ. Sg. {Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} BJ mentioned that we were anxious to test any make of tyre which is likely to give as much or more all-round satisfaction as our present standard Dunlop. Mr. Rapson is anxious that we should make a test of his tyres now that they are made by the North British Rubber Co. Mr. Rapson will send to BJ a list of the depots and agencies where these are stocked. BJ. will arrange for a number of these tyres to be purchased at random with a view to testing. Some of the points necessary in this test are: The amount of out of balance. Comfort in riding. Silence on the road. Non-skidding. Wear and tear. The test for wear and tear would not be made until after we have satisfied ourselves that the Rapson tyres are satisfactory in the other respects, as the wear and tear test would be the most expensive. BJ assures Mr. Rapson that the test will be made without any prejudice, as it is obviously to our advantage to find a tyre which gives equal satisfaction. The matter of price will of course also come into consideration and will be compared with the price at which we can purchase Dunlops. Mr. Rapson hopes that, if the tests are found satisfactory, we may be able to mention them in our catalogues rather in the same way as we have mentioned the second make of oil, namely, that if one cannot be obtained, the other can be used, unless of course we find that Rapsons are in the question of price and for other purposes equal to Dunlops. | ||
