| -3- 10. Sight Gauge in Gasoline Tank. It was considered that it was not necessary to add this to the chassis. 11. Self-starters on Existing Cars. Works will experiment with a view to fitting a device (on cars from 1920 upwards) which will be an easier job than pulling a car to pieces to fit our new type self-starter. Mr. Royce suggests that experiments should be made with a gear wheel drive rather than friction drive off the fly-wheel. 12. Anti-Thief Devices. This matter is having attention. The best solution appears to be the locking of the steering. 13. Question of a Longer Chassis. Mr. Royce is of opinion that to meet the demand for a longer chassis, the wheel base of the chassis should be lengthened by four inches. He also suggests doing away with the "A" column. We should consult the coachbuilders upon this point. Derby will provide the longer chassis when specially requested. The present wheel base will, however, remain standard, the longer car being supplied with reluctance. 14. Any other matters. Petrol tank. Mr. Royce is in favour of enlarging the main tank, rather than fitting a spare tank. Pedal covers. Rubber pedal covers are fitted as standard. Jack. Derby will experiment with pulls on axles and jacks and advise Sales of results and recommendations. It was suggested that the finish of aluminium parts of engine should be improved generally. | ||
