B.60 UNIT FOR TEST BED.

Owing to the fact that there are no external oil pipes on the B.60 engine it is rendered more difficult to incorporate an oil cooler, which is necessary when any prolonged running is carried out on the beds.

Will you therefore scheme out for the above in the following way.

The oil feed pipe from the pump to the gallery pipe to be deleted and in its place a pipe coming down into the base of the sump from the pump, and another pipe which connects to the gallery pipe also coming into the base of the sump.

The cooler will then be installed in the circuit between these two pipes.

It will be necessary to use some form of gland to seal the sump around the pipes and if possible be part of the unions for connecting up the cooler.

The scheme should be arranged so that dismantling or assembly of the sump can be carried out without difficulty.

When complete the scheme should be instructed to be fitted on the first B.60 engine for the test bed.

The arrangement of the B.60 oil pump and pipes etc. is shown on ECD.550.
