| COMKDR. BRIGGS. [illegible handwriting] COPY OF LETTER FROM; The Old Vicarage, Markyate, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. 27 Oct 1927. Dear Mr. Constantine, I am sending in a separate parcel a filter containing the felt in which you are interested. Will you pass it on to Commander Briggs when you have finished with it? The joint is made with a mixture which is practically the same as that used by printers for their inking rollers. I have no record of the proportions but the constituents are gelatine and glycerine. This joint proved entirely satisfactory, as used in the carburettor, and should suffice in a filter. The felt is capable of becoming water logged even when soaked with petrol so that a water proof gauze is needed ahead of it. This material does not readily become clogged so that in testing the life the smallest area which will pass the required flow should be used. The hairs in petrol can be seen quite clearly in a beaker. If you or Commander Briggs would like any further information I would try to find it. Yours truly, (Sd.) A.G. Ioindes. | ||
