| 1036 Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 2/JH. 19th. January, 1940. T.A.Swinden, Esq., 12, Broad Elms Lane, SHEFFIELD.11. Dear Swinden, Your notes on carburation were I thought a fair statement of the present situation. I certainly agree with your summary of the respective merits of the expanding and the fixture carburetter. I don't think, however, that we have sufficient evidence at present, to condemn water heating. One of the fundamental decisions that we have got to make in the immediate future is whether to go for exhaust heating or water heating. When we have done this, we can then compare our results with the Chevrolet or other American 6 cylinder cars of the same dimensions. I am very sorry to hear you are sick, but hope you will make a speedy recovery as we badly need your assistance on current carburation problems. We hope to have some of the new type induction pipes ready by the time you return. Yours sincerely, | ||
