| - E - Mx. {John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} 10/G.16.2.39. running on an Experimental car, and was then fitted to 27-G-VI with the object of further mileage, before the decision to change to stronger shaft, with altered Helix angle. It is now proposed to fit the new shaft in conjunction with new type ball bearings on 27-G-VI. Exhaust System. Front expansion box deleted in conjunction with 1 3/4" diameter tail pipe. Saving weight, cost and giving increase in H.P. at high speeds. Improve maximum speed of car from 1 - 2 M.P.H. There is no audible difference compared with the standard system. The maintenance of clearance between exhaust pipe and cruciform is being carefully observed, and up to the present there is no decrease in clearance. Mileage 3,486 Long studs in 5% nickel to outer flanges of exhaust manifold. Mileage 16,736 These are fitted to all Wraith cars, and retrospectively on Bentley and 25/30 in cases of stud breakage. Radiator mounting to S.CD.639. (Not instructed for 'C' series). Owing to increased amount of front end movement causing flickering of lamp beams, failure of lamp bulbs and front wing valances fouling suspension. We have reverted to the present standard radiator mounting and front of car is now quite steady. Brakes. Combination of Thermoid and Ferodo R.L. in same drum; R.L. fitted to trailing shoes. There is a light groan from front brakes occasionally, but so far there has been no high pitched squealing. Mileage 5,318 The Armstrong hydraulic damper, deleting friction device on swinging arm is a marked improvement. | ||
