Edwards} Stans Rms Attached is a note on Exhaust Momentum, showing that the gain in speed using momentum manifolds, is threefold. At a speed of 300 MPH., these are :- 1. A gain of almost 6 MPH., due to a direct Momentum effect. 2. A gain of 3 MPH. with a fixed pitch, or 2-position airscrew, due to increased R.P.M. and boost. 3. A gain of 0 - 3 MPH., due to smoothing out the airflow over the aeroplane surface, i.e. improved streamlining. Total gain 9-12 MPH. Dor {Mr Dorey} /Pav. | ||
