Huckerby} 16.11.33 re PHANTOM II CHASSIS - POINTS FOR URGENT ATTENTION ------------------------------------------- As requested, I confirm conversation with you this morning to the effect that the following are features which, although we appreciate are having your attention, should be now considered as urgent, since apart from a considerable amount of time being spent in obtaining the best possible, we consider we shall receive customers' complaints about them and feel sure that something will have to be done to some extent retrospectively :- (1) Noisy engines. This is chiefly confined to noisy tappets, exhaust spitting when 'picking up' (carburetter exhaust heating) and noise from the fan, engine gear noises, camshaft squawk. (2) More clearance is required for the fan belt. This is continually rubbing against the bosses supporting the T.R. dampers. (3) The steering control and general stability of the car for high speeds is definitely poor, especially now the customers are having our Bentley experience. [Signature] EP {G.
