Mr. Hancock from hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer}

We thank you for your reports dated 2.5.29, 3.5.29 and 4.5.29.

We note that your results concur almost exactly with those which we have obtained on 12-EX when we went over the subject previously. We should like to know how you think your steering in its final condition i.e. .125" toe in and 2.5º pivot lean compares with other cars we have had in France. You will of course retain the 7½ lbs. of friction measured at the steering wheel which we require to reduce joggles.

We are also interested to know if any of the other tyres you try have any beneficial effect on the steering. You will have got our wire today re. the starter motor. This now seems to be the one outstanding feature of the car which has not been cleared up, apart from the exhaust system. We have therefore asked you to give us your views on the situation and at the same time tell us whether the flywheel ring is so damaged that it would be impossible to get another starter motor on the car. From your previous reports it appears that the position is rather hopeless.
