| 1487 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /CTS. {C. Trot Salt - Carburation} 5/JH. 28th. November, 1938. The S.U. Carburetter Co.Ltd., Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM.8. For the attention of Mr. Cooper. Dear Sirs, With reference to your thermostatically controlled starting carburetter. We are in the process of obtaining a suitable 'setting' with the different variables on this unit in our cold chamber. One point which has shown up is as follows :- After standing overnight in twenty degrees of frost, the starter carburetter needle sticks in its guide. We agree that the conditions are severe, but we would like your comments on this point. Some weeks ago, when your Mr. Morris came to our Works, the design of the main jet of the H4 carburetter was discussed. It was agreed that there is room for improvement here, and I made the following suggestion - Could not the screw head (for initial adjustment be part of the jet itself, at the same time, part of the jet tube being threaded, so that when setting for tick over the whole jet screws up and down. Something like this would get away from the trouble of the adjusting portion becoming disconnected from the main jet. CONT'D. {John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
