PHANTOM CHASSIS.

SIDE STEERING TUBE SEC:7070.

Please receive herewith two Blue Prints of each of the following:-

F.76108 Scheme for fitting Lower Rated Springs with Increased Deflection in Existing Side Steering Tubes.
F.76109 Side Steering Tube. 1 off per chassis.
F.76110 Spring for Side Steering Tube. 4 " " "
F.76111 Outer Plug. 2 " " "
F.76112 Inner Plug. 2 " " "

The Spring space was somewhat restricted, but we have obtained a spring giving as near as possible the specification proposed by Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} , as follows:-

| | SPECIFICATION OF SPRING AS REQ'D: BY Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Rm. {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | SPECIFICATION OF SPRING AS DRAWN(F76110) |
|---|---|---|
| RATE. | 1500 lbs/inch. | 1400 lbs/inch. |
| DEFLECTION (NORMAL POSITION TO STOPS) | .200 | .200 |
| NORMAL LOAD. | 300 lbs. | 275 lbs. |
| MAXIMUM LOAD. | 562 lbs. | 550 lbs. |
| MAXIMUM STRESS. | If possible to be less than 86,000. | 84,100 |

In addition to the parts issued herewith, the following parts (issued for scheme F.75841) will also be required:-
