TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M13.11.26. X8450 ORIGINAL C. to DJ. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} PHANTOM SIDE STEERING TUBE. X8450 We send herewith N. sch. 2301. shewing the proposed spring joint for the side steering tube. It follows the lines of N. sch. 2258., but one end has been set up to 200 lbs., and the other to 50 lbs. Pressure on the balls in accordance with these two set ups is retained. Exactly the same springs are used, and the same stress is reached, but after a somewhat longer movement, that is, we have increased the clearance before coming up against the stops.
