| Exptl. Dept. X1487 Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /Bwg. {J. C. Bowring} 18/KW. 22nd June, 1934. The S.U. Carburetter Co.Ltd., East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM 8. Dear Mr. Skinner, Anti-Corrosion Treatment. Following up our conversation of last Wednesday re the above. We have made arrangements for Float Chambers, Covers and Petrol Pump castings to be treated at these Works, we presume you will deliver and collect these castings with your van. We received yesterday from our Bentley Service Station a complaint that they have again had trouble with carburetter flooding and in each case the needles are of the modified type. They found no apparent reason why the flooding occurred and we have not yet been able to reproduce the conditions here. However, on inspecting one or two float chamber covers we notice that it is quite possible for the needle control fork to drop just a little too far so that the corners of the pivoting bridge of same tend to stick or bite into the cover itself and so keep the float in the sunk position. Also, we notice that quite a lot of thin flash has been left on the inside of the covers and it would be possible for a loose piece of this to stick the needle. | ||
