8th April 1931.

Messrs Boulton & Paul..
Norwich.

For the attention of Mr. North.

Dear Sir,

Replying to your M.8608 in which you state that the power required by a fan is .68 X 1/2pa {Mr Paterson} v^3 we are interested to know how you reconcile this theoretically with the calculations derived from the kinetic energy that must be imparted to the column of air, this latter being 1/2 pa {Mr Paterson} v^3. (p measured in slugs/ft^2).

Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
