The total mileage of this car from arrival at Boulogne to arrival at Chateauroux(French test region) was 2,290. During the two week-ends I covered 546 miles with the damper control in use.

As previously reported on the run out I experienced a complete loss of pressure in the damper system. This was due to foreign matter getting under the ball valves. I corrected this at Sevres on my arrival and since then have had no further trouble of that nature, the governor control being quite reliable.

During the running with Sr; the Hartfords were set at 50 pounds both front and back. The glands of the shock dampers have shown no signs of leaking during all the running in and around Paris; they have also been free from knocks. The rear end of the levers on the front dampers foul the tyres on full lock.

CARBURATION.

The luffing on this carb. was bad and Sr immediately complained of this so I fitted a spring under the air valve to overcome this and had no further complaint. With reference to starting, on no occasion have I had to use the starter carburetter. While the air temperature was 0° c. and over the engine started on the first attempt and would immediately drive the car. Several days the temperature was down to -4° c. and although the engine started readily it would not continue running for many seconds and required from 3 to 4 attempts before it kept going. The total loss of clearance in the valves is as follows:-

No. 1 .003 No. 7 no loss The tappets being set at
2 .004 8 .002 .004 Inlet and
3 .001 9 .002 .006 Exhaust.
4 .006 10 .005
5 .001 11 .010
6 no loss 12 .003

During the warming up period the tappets are on the noisy side. The clutch has been very good and has not required
