| V1775 Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Rg. {Mr Rowledge} EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} My. ROY. {Mr H. Royce - Buyer} Fm. Ev. {Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Your attention is called to CJ's memo, reference CJ1/H5.2.25., a copy of which is given below:- "I notice that, when heads of departments are away, for instance in the U.S.A., memoranda come from departments with their initials at the top and at the end. Please give instructions that this system should not be pursued. If a memorandum thus headed and signed were presented some time afterwards to the official who had been absent at the time it was written, he might overlook the fact that at that particular date he was absent and might very reasonably say that he did not write it. The initials at the head and at the foot of the memoranda are supposed to be those of the official who has written or dictated and signed the memoranda and this practice should be followed. It would make matters clearer if, under the letters at the head of the memo., there were added in brackets the words (------(here insert initials of head of department) absent in --------)". Wn. | ||
