Comparison of Steering Wheel Effort with Standard Dunlop Fort Tyres & Dunlop Fort 90 Tyres on 25 HP.

We have measured the effort required to turn the steering wheel of a 25 HP. chassis with the car stationary on dry concrete when fitted with (1) Standard Dunlop Fort Tyres and (2) Dunlop Fort 90 Tyres. The conditions were as follows :-

(1) Standard 25 HP. Chassis.
(2) Car stationary on dry concrete.
(3) Effort measured with wheels in straight ahead position.
(4) Tyre pressure 35 lbs/sq.in. in both cases.
(5) Size of tyres 6 x 19 in both cases.
(6) Both sets of tyres approximately new.

The results were as follows :-

Standard Dunlop Tyres. Effort at Wheel = 48-51 lbs. at 7.50" = 360-380 lbs.ins.

Dunlop 90 Tyres. Effort at Wheel = 47-50 lbs. at 7.50" = 350-370 lbs.ins.

From the above there is no difference in the steering effort with the two types of tyre.
