Our present Bentley governor unit costs £5., and is not fully satisfactory owing to its susceptibility to dirt. It appears that a gear type pump in the gearbox pumping gearbox oil to control the dampers would be a far more suitable arrangement. In order to safeguard against a pipe failure draining the gearbox, it would be necessary for the inlet port on the oil pump to be just about the lowest safe gearbox oil level. We consider that it is unnecessary to retain the governor characteristic in the pressure system and that a single valve to the hand control is all that is desired. Our present unit has 5 valves which can be affected by dirt. The factory cost of such a unit should not exceed £1.0.0. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /Les. | ||
