19 Addition to Report of Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/std.3/JH./5.9.36. As a result of information received from the Harrison Radiator Corporation, we decided to test the effect on cooling of removing the spot light, head lights, horns, bumper bar and number plate from a Phantom III car. Tests were carried out at Brooklands, great care being taken to get reliable readings, and results are shown on attached sheet. From these it is seen that the Spot Light does have a slightly adverse effect on cooling, but that even if it were deleted and the bumper bar and number plate shaped so as to assist cooling air as much as possible, the increase in critical air temperature would only be about 3oC.
