RHO. c.Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4429 BY {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} /EM7/J,17.9.30. Firth's H.R.Crown Valves. -------------------------- We have received from Messrs Nitralloy Limited, a number of valves produced in the above material which have been nitrided on the stems. A sample of these valves has been examined by the Laboratory and the depth of the nitrided case is found to be .0046". This appears to be quite satisfactory and we shall be glad if these valves could be finished and fitted to engines as it would appear that this may be a satisfactory method of using up the H.R.Crown material which we have in stock, at any rate, as far as inlet valves are concerned.
