Continued:-

We have been carrying out some investigations into the noise of the heaters recently, and we tend to the conclusion that the construction of the matrix air-ways has a very considerable effect, tending to create "whistle" in certain cases. Some time before the war Mr. Steadman suggested that a Mark III block be used instead of the Mark VI previously employed, which we agreed to do. No matrix of this type, was, however, delivered, and we should be very interested to compare this former type with the Mark VI from the point of view of air noise. If, therefore, the two blocks you are preparing for us, 53 m/m and 64 m/m are not Mark III, we should like you to produce two blocks of this type for test. We will send an official order as soon as we hear from you.

Yours faithfully,

DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - CHASSIS.
