RE. STANDARDISATION OF COACHWORK FEATURES. X.8830 X.3730 X.3729

This is to confirm your suggestion that we should make ourselves responsible for the experimental work, and standardisation of coachwork features. We think that this is essential, firstly because Derby seldom if ever, have any bodies which are suitable for such experiments, as in general the tests are required on a new body, and secondly because we are generally able to arrange with the coachbuilders to fit up either an owner car, or one of their trials cars, with the improved design. feature.

We propose to use the present standardisation sheet for chassis parts, giving the experiments 'XB' numbers. (Under 'Experimental Test Report' will be the report by Derby, and in the place of 'Road Test Report' would be a report on the tests made by coachbuilders.)

We propose to add a small gummed leaflet to the sheet, with provision for the signatures of LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} on behalf of the Coachwork Sub-Committee, and EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} who will sign on behalf of the leading coachbuilders.
